What Makes This Method Different?

Unlike traditional coaching models that focus on short-term performance, Integral Coaching looks at the full complexity of who you are. Using a multidimensional framework, we assess and develop six key aspects of your personal and professional growth:

  1. The Four Quadrants – Your internal and external world, behaviors, relationships, and systems.
  2. Lines of Development – Cognitive, emotional, somatic, interpersonal, spiritual, and moral intelligence.
  3. Levels of Consciousness – How your worldview and sense of self evolve over time.
  4. States of Consciousness – Your daily, peak, and altered states that shape your awareness.
  5. Types & Structures – Your personality (Enneagram), masculine/feminine energy, and how you naturally show up.

By integrating these five lenses, we build a complete, dynamic picture of your growth and potential. Below in the intricate overview of the Integral Map abbreviated as "AQAL".

1. The Four Quadrants Lens:

Integral Theory’s Four Quadrants give us a powerful framework to see the full complexity of human experience — both internal and external, individual and collective. By using this lens, we can more effectively design change, understand behavior, and align personal growth with cultural and systemic transformation. The diagram below shows how these perspectives work together to create a more complete and integrated view.

2. Levels of Consciousness Lens:

Levels of consciousness, as mapped in Integral Theory, represent the evolving stages through which individuals and cultures make meaning. Each level reflects a distinct worldview — shaping how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world. The diagram below illustrates the progression and characteristics of these levels.

3. Lines of Development Lens

In Integral Theory, Lines of Development refer to the multiple intelligences that evolve independently within a person. Unlike a single “IQ” measure, these lines represent different capacities for growth across various aspects of life. Some lines may be highly developed, while others remain underdeveloped, creating imbalances in personal and professional life.

4. The States Lenses

The Four States of Consciousness

The Four States of Consciousness in Integral Theory—gross, subtle, causal, and non-dual awareness—represent natural and trainable dimensions of human experience. Each state offers access to different levels of insight, presence, and perception. The diagram below illustrates these states and their unique qualities.

The Four States of Energy

The Four Energy States model maps how we show up in any moment by combining two key dimensions: our energy level (high or low) and our mindset (resourceful or unresourceful). This creates four distinct states that influence how we lead, respond to stress, connect with others, and take action. The diagram below shows how these states interact and where growth becomes possible.

5. The Types Lenses

No two individuals experience growth in the same way. Your core personality patterns and energetic tendencies shape how you lead, relate, and evolve. The Types Lens in Integral Coaching® integrates two key frameworks—the Enneagram and Masculine/Feminine Energy Dynamics—to provide a tailored roadmap for your personal transformation.

The Enneagram

The Enneagram is a powerful personality system that reveals deep-rooted motivations, fears, and habitual responses. It helps us understand why we do what we do and how we can develop beyond our default patterns.

Masculine & Feminine Energy

Beyond personality, we each have both masculine and feminine energies that influence how we approach decision-making, leadership, and relationships. These energies are not about gender—they are universal forces within everyone.

The 5 Stages of Change

One of the most powerful aspects of Integral Coaching is the metaphor process, which helps clients see, name, and shift their way of being in a deeply embodied way. This process is rooted in Robert Kegan’s Subject-Object Theory, which describes how human development occurs when what was once unconscious (subject) becomes something we can observe and work with (object).

Using metaphors, we map out a client’s Current Way of Being (CWOB) and New Way of Being (NWOB), providing a felt sense of their transformation process.

Subject-Object Theory

Robert Kegan’s developmental model states that personal growth happens in five stages, but the key transformation process follows this structure:

1. We are fused with our current way of being (subject) → We gain perspective on it (object)
2. A new way of being emerges (object) → We integrate it fully (subject)

In Integral Coaching®, we move clients through five key transformation phases using metaphors to make the shift tangible and experiential.
